TechCrunch posted that Seesmic was releasing their BlackBerry Twitter client today. A few changes have been integrated and it will be interesting to see how many find Seesmic their Twitter app of choice. I know there’s a few choices out there: TweetGenius, Twitter for BlackBerry, SocialScope, UberTwitter, and yFrog to name a few. So what has Seemic updated?
I know everyone has a preference on Twitter apps. I’ve tried them and the only two I’ve kept are TweetGenius and Twitter for BlackBerry. The others for me were like Absinthe. We all have our reasons for preference and mine could have been software issues, but that’s neither here nor there. So on with the updates.
The new version of Seesmic includes:
- Support for multi-accounts
- Add up to ten accounts
- Ping.fm integration (Post updates to 50 social networks at the same time)
- Ability to choose photo uploading size
- Ability to share photos through TweetPhoto and yFrog
If you have Seesmic you should update it now. If you don’t and want to give it a try, it’s free so you have nothing to lose. Let us know what you think.

Cruising the forums I came across this thread with a request for pig emoticon. I obviously had no idea there was one, but just a few replies into the thread, it turns out there are a load of hidden emoticons deep inside BlackBerry Messenger. I'm still not sure where they came from or how exactly they were discovered, but they are definitely loads of fun. Among the list is a pig, cheesburger, dog, cat, sports stuff and tons more. To get the new set, you'll have to copy the text from the thread an post to BlackBerry Messenger using AutoText (check out our Mini-101 on how to get symbols into BlackBerry Messenger). Now I couldn't personally get these to show up on my 9700 (running OS 5.0.0.423) but I've tested with a few others and it seems like most devices aren't having any issues. Leave a comment and let us know if they work for you. Jump into the forums to get in on the fun!

Rory let us know that Twinkler Software is proudly announcing a price reduction. AddOnis is a fantastic Super Utility for BlackBerry and was rated the best app of 2009. The new price is now $6.99, no longer $9.95. AddOnis is another one of those all-in-one apps you really want. You can read my review of AddOnis here. Take advantage of the new price and see why the name AddOnis speaks for itself. It’s an app my BlackBerry and I value completely.

A lot of talk has been generating from the BlackBerry Super Apps webinar that was held yesterday. The above pic is from one of the slides shown during the webinar showing off how UI layouts are meant to be. Nicely integrated, visually appealing and user aware and what is possible in the contextual BlackBerry OS. For example, applications that remember your position upon open and closing and data flow of information at a glance.
Since the example given is nothing like what the current BlackBerry OS looks like, BerryScoop wanted to speculate a little bit to ask what if this was actually what OS 6.0 was to look like? In no way claiming it will but just as a general question. Would it appeal to the masses? Is it enough or would users be expecting more? All valid questions as I see it for as ideas for the next OS.
As much as we all like to speculate and enjoy the thought of what the next BlackBerry OS should and will look like, the official word on this is that it is in no way a reflection of any ongoing development work. For folks who like finer details look at the date and location on the device. November 8th, San Francisco. This app, called Concierge was shown off at the recent BlackBerry developer conference by Curtis Susaski to ring in the arrival of the BlackBerry widgets SDK just as an example of what is possible in the way of contextual additions to the BlackBerry OS.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS).
