Verizon to end BlackBerry BOGO Nov. 7th

If you've been thinking about picking up a new BlackBerry Smartphone from Verizon, you may want to move quick. Assuming the info we just received above holds true, it shows that Big Red is looking to end their current Buy One, Get One BlackBerry promotion next Saturday, November 7th. I'm sure the BlackBerry BOGO will make its return at somepoint in the not so distant future, but we're not exactly sure when or for how long. So if you've been eyeing up the Verizon BlackBerry Tour or newly-launched BlackBerry Storm2 for you and a loved one, there's no time like the present!

Review: Berry Vibrate v1.0 by MMMOOO

Filed Under (Blackberry News) by Susan C on 31-10-2009

Berry Vibrate

I always get asked the question, “Is there an app to ring and vibrate at once?” There is, though MMMOOO has come out with one that has a twist. Berry Vibrate is available in the BlackBerry Sync Store and is one of the little inexpensive apps you may find you’ll want to keep.

Berry Vibrate goes for $1.99. In the store, the description is as follows:

Berry Vibrate enables your phone active sound and vibrate at the same time instead of one by one when there’s a call. Won’t miss any important calls.

With all the questions about what is out there, I decided to try Berry Vibrate. I tested it on my BlackBerry Tour. As with all of MMMOOO’s products, you purchase it, and are given the download for the pc version. You unzip your files (extract, zip whichever you prefer), and then plug your phone in and use the App Loader from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and search for your Berry Vibrate alx file and load it.

After loading the app, I found the little BlackBerry icon with the “vibrating waves” around it in my Download file. After clicking on it, the app gives you two options: Activate the Berry Vibrate and Activate the LED Flash. Also listed is a list of Tips. It explains that when it is activated it auto launches but does not affect the system.

I had no issues with the app. For a mere $1.99, I found it to be a great app for those who would like to have that vibrating alert. Even when I had my phone on silent profile, my phone would vibrate with a call, and the LED flashes in disco colors to let me know there’s a call. The app is simple, easy to use, and it’s priced really good.

I myself don’t use vibrate alerts except when I’m at an event where I can’t hear my phone. At work it’s so busy that even if I’m alerted to a call, I cannot answer the call and have to return a call as soon as I get a free second. But many consumers still like that option that normal handsets used to have, and it’s extremely handy for those who need to get those calls as they come in. Doctors, Real Estate Agents, Construction Managers, there’s several professions that the phone call is extremely important.

The app didn’t take any battery life, ran easily, and I liked the convenience of it. No complicated menus, no keys to run it, it’s just as it says, Berry Vibrate. It may be a small app, but it’s perfect if you want your call and vibrate too. You can count on Berry Vibrate to shake things up a bit without being an energy hog.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 starts making it’s way to Rogers stores

rogers-bold-9700

Looks like Rogers might be the first to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in Canada! Tips have started to arrive that a select bunch of Rogers stores have started to receive their Bold 9700 stock. We still haven’t heard officially from Rogers when they plan to launch the device, but we most likely will hear something this week. Apparently pricing is expected to be $299 with three year term, or $599 without contract. So sit back and wait a few more days before the official launch.

Slacker Radio Updated: Version 2.0.91 for BlackBerry Smartphones Now Available For Download

Slacker Radio

Slacker Radio got a little bump in versions recently. Version 2.0.91 is now available for download from the Slacker Radio website. Now would be a good time to get in on their Halloween music channel as well if you have never checked Slacker out before.

Sadly, no changelog is available at this time for what exactly the update corrects. From my checking of it, it appears to be some if not full support for OS 5.0. but if you notice anything else don't hesitate to drop us a note in the comments or in the CrackBerry forums of your findings.

Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 Launch Approaching Fast!

Filed Under (Blackberry News) by Bla1ze on 31-10-2009

Rogers Bold 9700

We've been hearing some rumors for a few days regarding Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 release. Finally, it seems they are rumors now more. Rogers has sent off the emails to CSR's telling them to take the BlackBerry Bold 9700 training courses in the Rogers Fastrack system, while Rogers BlackBerry Tech agents have already been trained up. We were also hearing that the devices were sitting in the warehouse, flashed with the latest 5.0 OS and all packaged up for Rogers customers across Canada. All of this is now confirmed.

All that's really left right now is for dealers to place their orders and get them shipped off to retail locations. Shipping will be available from November 2nd and with some retailers receiving their devices possibly as soon as November 4th. The final rumor that has been passed around is that Rogers is planning on doing a soft launch of the device and while this still remains a rumor until some are actually sold, retailers will have the devices on hand and they're already in the system to be processed. And of course, Rogers may want to be getting ahead of Bell in the sales department if even just by a day or two. So, who's excited for the Bold 9700 now? Gonna be hitting up your local Rogers location to grab one of these?
