MyPoynt is a very popular location based information app for BlackBerry. Nikolaus let me know that they have updated their application to version 1.1.0.63 from 1.0.1.68 which is a significant number change compared to their regular incremental ones. The problem is that neither me nor Nikolaus can see anything different. Their last update added cell tower location support so I am hoping there is some new hidden goodie they have not announced yet.
I am asking all of you to check out the new version and see if you notice anything new. Report back in the comments with your findings.
To pick it up OTA head over to m.mypoynt.com or get more info from your computer at this link.

Seems this will be a double confirmed rumor as CrackBerry has just posted a similar screenshot! An accessory for the BlackBerry 9630 has shown up in Telus’ inventory system. What does this mean? Well according to our tipster this means that Telus is starting to get ready for the launch of the 9630 and that [...]

Zoho is kind of like Google Docs with a few additions. They have quite a few applications that lets you write and edit documents online along with accessing your Zoho Mail and Calendar. So far it looks like they have only enabled read access from their mobile website kind of like Google Docs did a bit back.
The following services are available from their mobile site at m.zoho.com
- Zoho Mail
- Zoho Calendar
- Zoho Writer
- Zoho Sheet
- Zoho Show
- Zoho Creator
Check it out and let me know what you think. Personally I am waiting for one of these companies to add editing and creating functionality now that browsers are improving support for AJAX and more…

It looks like Slacker for BlackBerry is doing quite well. It took them a bit longer than MySpace but they are definitely sticking around for the long haul.
They do seem to like comparing themselves to Pandora so I guess it cannot hurt to share:
- Slacker Radio offers 2+ Million tracks – 4 times as many as Pandora
- Slacker Radio offers stereo audio – Pandora only offers mono (single channel)
- Slacker Radio offers station caching so you can listen to radio even when you don’t have a signal
I see why they think they are better than Pandora. On the other hand I have one request from Slacker; caching over Wi-Fi. Slacker Radio requires that you plug your BlackBerry into a PC for it to cache radio stations. Since I am on a hosted BES I only plug mine in every month or two when I upgrade the OS. I just wish it could sync and download the radio cache over WiFi while I am sleeping… I digress.
In case you have not already done so you can pick up Slacker Radio free by pointing your BlackBerry to www.slacker.com. It is only available in the US for devices with OS 4.3+. You need 500mb free on your memory card for station caching.
Just as a reminder the feature list is:
- High-quality stereo playback from all streaming wireless connections (including Wi-Fi) and cached stations
- Station caching - play music even without a network connection
- Free music library featuring millions of songs from thousands of artists
- Over 100 professionally programmed genre stations
- Create custom stations by searching for artists or song titles
- View song lyrics
- Bluetooth support
- Multi-tasking - listen to music while doing email
- View artist biographies and photos
- View album art and reviews
- “Peek Ahead" artist and album preview
- Pause and skip songs
- Rate songs as favorites
- Ban songs and artists you don’t like

This years Brandz.com Top 100 list is now out and BlackBerry has seen some nice growth within the rankings. This year, BlackBerry achieved the second highest percentage increase in brand value (100%) behind China Merchants Bank (168%) in 2009, after achieving the largest percentage increase on the list in 2008 (390%).
The BlackBerry brand moved up 35 points this year in the global ranking. BlackBerry and Amazon tied for the largest ranking increase in 2009. And at this point is now ranked 16th globally, 10th in North America and 6th in the technology category.
The BlackBerry brand is a main point to RIM's success so maintaining the brand image is of key importance. These rankings prove that RIM does that quite well.

Now this is slick. Typically I don't like themes that are mock ups of other devices such as Windows Mobile or Android. I feel like if I wanted a Windows Mobile theme, I'd have bought a Windows Mobile device, right? But this one is different. This is like a splash of HTC's TouchFlo smacked with BlackBerry branding. This theme has some serious looking animations, all compiled into a theme that flows much better then even the devices it's based on. HTC Touch Slide by CrackBerry.com forums member KDJayo is just simply beautiful.
With Quicklaunch integration, huge animated sliding icons and "hidden" buttons all over this place, all I can really say is I'm throughly impressed by this one. If not only by how slick it looks, but how it functions as well. If you want to see the theme in full action you can check out the Youtube posting of the video. As well, KDJayo has incuded some sexy custom wallpapers in the original forums post. Sadly, currently only available for the Storm at this point. The cost is just right for this kind of theme and you can pick it up for only $5. I can only imagine the time it took for this one.

Well this rumor has been bandied around enough so I thought I would mention it. I am not big on rumors but these are starting to round out. It looks like the CDMA Bold/Curve hybrid 9630 codename Niagara will be coming sometime in July. In RIM’s case that could also figure in a few months of delayed launches…
The consensus has it that the 9630 codename Niagara will be called the Tour which seems to fit in with RIM’s naming scheme. Maybe with a tie in to their U2 endorsements.

A month ago to the day we introduced the beta of our new on-device CrackBerry App Store client. We're still leaving the *beta* tag on version 1.02, which features several improvements including: a much more polished and user-friendly interface (now optimized for the Storm), better use of the menu key for navigation, faster load times, support for coupon codes and many minor bug fixes. Still to come before we leave beta and make the app store official is version tracking, integrated downloads and support for Paypal.
Update: The Crackberry App Store is optimized for the Storm, but if you had a previous version that was installing on half screen only, please use the link below to upgrade to a “special” Storm version only that will fix this problem: http://go.mobihand.com?op=dlmh&pd=28444&l=1&ps=150

NOTE: Do not install this software if you do not know what you are doing. It may make your BlackBerry FUBAR or just plain angry.
