ToySoft let me know that they are running a promotion on their Full Screen PictureID application bringing it down 50% for the weekend. The regular price is $14.95 (on sale for $7.47 now) so this is a decent discount if you were planning on picking it up already. The application is pretty popular so I thought some of you would enjoy saving a few bucks. I also like how the app can show you the city location based on the caller ID if you do not have them in your phonebook. To get the discount just go to the product page and add the item to your cart. Click the checkout button on the top right and use the coupon code PIXID50
NOTE: It seems like PictureID has a few caveats like it will not work when the keyboard is locked or on some newer devices (I think 4.6) SO USE THE FREE TRIAL before you buy. The Storm free trial and the trial for other devices are at these links (Storm OTA | Other OTA)
From the description:
With full screen picture caller ID and custom ringtone you can easily identify the caller. Assign different picture ID for different contacts. You can also assign a custom picture for caller’s who do not have caller ID information or blocked callers. Caller’s who have caller ID information PictureID can display the caller’s city location using the North America AreaCode database.
Features:
* Full screen picture ID
* Color font support
* Supports PNG, GIF and JPG pictures
* Supports Internal and SD card memory
* Includes North America area codes
* Custom display font, text and color
* Custom picture for Unknown and Private callers & General callers
* Supports Contact lookup when creating new Picture IDs
* Auto resize picture to fit the screen
* Add custom MP3/AAC/MID ringtones to Picture ID and Global PictureID
Compatibility:
8700 Series, 8800 Series, Pearl 4.2, 4.3, 4.5, Curve 4.2, 4.3, 4.5, Storm 9500/9530 Requires OS 4.7.075 and higher

Newcomer Gx5 just let me know that they have released two new BlackBerry applications to make ringtones more fun. Ringtone Shuffler was a new concept to me so I thought it was worth a mention. It essentially lets you select a few of your ringtones and have your device use a different ringtone every time you get a call. I think this might make it harder to identify your phones ring but it definitely has a “look at me” kind of appeal. Ringtone Shuffler is a bit pricey at $3.95 for such a simple application and sadly it looks like there is no free trial…
Gx5 also released a simple ringtone creator called BlackBerryRingtoneMaker that may be worth a look if you want an easy way to create your own ringtones but priced at $9.95 you may be better off with free alternatives.
If you pick either one up let me know what you think!

In preparation for some upcoming giveaways in our CrackBerry Mobile App Store, we figured we'd put together a little walkthrough/tutorial so if/when time is of the essence you'll know what to do!
** When we do software coupons, please note they will only work on the mobile app store powered by Mobihand (visiting crackberryappstore.com from your BlackBerry) and will not work on our website app store (software.crackberry.com). *
Step 1, as pictured above, open up your BlackBerry's web browser and head on over to CrackBerryAppStore.com. To save on this step in the future, once you're there you can scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the "Click to Download App Store Launcher" button which will install a shortcut on your homescreen.

It seems Canadian carrier Bell gets to claim bragging rights as being the first carrier to launch the CDMA version of the Pearl Flip, the 8230. Whereas the 8220 packs WiFi, the 8230 offers GPS instead.
If you've been waiting for this to hit, you have until March 12th to take advantage of the attractive $29.95/3yr contract pricing. Going down to a two-year contract adds over $300 to the tab. Ouch.
More more information and to buy, head on over to Bell's website.

Just a reminder for all of you who have not registered for WES 2009 yet and plan to. Their early bird discount of $400 off ends March 6th so you might want to hurry up. They have also published the tracks that will be available at WES this year at this link. WES is scheduled for May 5-7 in Orlando, Florida this year and will be pretty interesting since they will be focusing on BES 5.0.
You can register now at this link for $1,599 until March 6th. After which it goes up by about $200 every month.
